  • Reflect That.

Karma - "The total effect of a person's actions and conduct during the successive phases of the person's existence, regarded as determining the person's destiny."

While doing yoga today, it came to me that Karma isn't about what you do for others so much as it is what you do for you. How your actions are in harmony with your truth and spirit.

Karma is very personal…it is between your soul and how you present yourself to the world.

Karma isn't about doing for others at the cost of your own inner peace, love and joy.

Our lives (karma) are echoing back how we feel about ourselves…not what we do for others.

Our destiny is decided by how we speak our feelings and how we create boundaries as we care for our self.

Karma is self care…self love…being one with your spirit.

Our karmic care is lost in a multitude of ways…for me it was abuse and being raised by a woman who was selfish, but not self caring…if that makes sense.

She wasn't able to care for her self, let alone for the 14 children she gave birth to.

I wasn't given a good role model on how to sow a destiny of love, peace and joy for my self.

What I hear many saying is that they are going forward with the positive, and leaving their past behind.

And, what I see is that they are unwilling to examine their karmic trail, to see the exact science of cause and effect, and it is how we respond that plants a new karmic seed.

I just don't see how being 'kind' to my father served my mother.

It left her with a husband that was incapable to love, no matter how 'loving' she was.

This is what I mean by our karma isn't doing for others, but rather doing for our selves.

She would have taught her daughters a completely different lesson, had she been aware of what her actions were doing to her self.

I had always felt that she had multiple opportunities for a redo…each time he committed another act of abuse…she was given a choice to act differently, but time and time again, she failed to change her response.  She doesn't know how to begin to begin to change her karma.  She will always get what she has been getting, for she is doing what she has always done.

There is an internal cost to loving people who hurt you.  Each time you focus on their needs and neglect your needs…you are being unloving and uncaring to your self.

I just can't see how treating yourself poorly will grant you a karmic trail of love, peace and joy.

You are not giving love if it is hurtful to your self…you are hurting your self and I am not sure what the other person is getting except perhaps a false message…or a message of how much you are okay hurting yourself.

We are not responsible for the content and the destiny of each other's lives.

We are only repsonsible for our own life.

Our life reviews will be feeling what we have done to others.

If you are loving them falsely, you will feel this empty love.

I believe that my karma path changed, my life's destiny was greatly altered when I began living from the inside out.  I went from expecting others to make me me….and instead worked on creating my own self.

A self that had boundaries and self care rules.

I no longer was self less and could do anything for anyone.

I had an inner awareness of this living breathing soulful self who was affected by how I acted.

I no longer lied to myself.

I no longer pretended at the cost of myself.

I became extremely aware of how each action I did was setting up my future world. For, I had experienced living a life, blind to the karmic response…and was intent on making others happy, while completely neglecting me.  And yet, I was very narcisistic.

I just read that narcistic people can be either controlling or neglectful…and I believe that the difference between a narcistic person and one who is self loving is how they see/love themselves.

I have been reading just a bit on narissistic people, and here is how I see it.

They need someone else to show them themselves…they are incapable of seeing themselves by themselves.

Meaning, I was a good mother IF my children showed me how I was.

I was a good friend, if a friend could show me how I was by what they said about me.

If another person wasn't there, there was no me.  My sense of self was just a reflection.  I had no inner view of myself.

A narsissistic person disappears without you telling them who they are.  It is a job that is endless.  My mother is only a mother if we make her one.  On her own, she is very much not a mother.  I was/am the maker of the mother daughter relationship…she couldn't be a mother without me.

I know this will seem vaguely mental, but unless and until you can get away from the reflection of how others see you….you will not get this.

I have deflected if you will all other's opinions, and have gained a connection with me inside.  I have literally turned inward to find out who I am.

In doing so, my karma has changed from being narsisstic to being self loving.

Anytime you are worried about your reflection (how others see you) you are dancing on the lip of being narsisstic.

My mother believed, that her reflection of how she seen my father would change him…for, she loved her reflection of her self and not her self.  So, she worked on repeatedly changing his reflection by how she saw him.  And failed to see the real him.

The world is not set up for us to change each other.  Imagine how brutal that would be, to have your image continual changed by how others seen you. Which they do and it does…but only in their eyes.

No one can change my image of me, but me.

I am solely responsible for my actions and my responses. It is my intention to pay attention to my inner world and the outer world will reflect that.

  • Karma

From the Seat of the Soul, by Gary Zukav

"To the extent that a person is in touch with spiritual depths, the personality is soothed because the energy of consciousness is focused on its energy core and not on its artificial facade, which is the personality."

"The personality sometimes appears as a force running rampant in the world with no attachment to the energy of its soul.  This situation can be the origin of what we call an evil human being, and it can be the origin of a schizophrenic human being. It is the result of the personality being unable to find its reference point, or connection, to its mothership, which is its soul.  The conflicts of a human's life are directly proportional to the distance at which an energy of personality exists separately from the soul, and, therefore, as we shall see, in an irresponsible position of creation. When a personality is in full balance, you cannot see where it ends and the soul begins.  That is a whole human being."

"What is involved in the healing of a soul?"

"Most of us are accustomed to the idea that we are irresponsible for some of our actions, but not all of them. We consider ourselves responsible, for example, for the good deed that brings our neighbor and us together, or for responding to it positively, but we do not consider ourselves responsible for the argument between us and our neighbor, or responding to it negatively. We consider ourselves responsible for having a safe trip if we take the time to check conditions of the car before starting, but if we speed around a car that, in our opinion, has been traveling too slowly, and almost cause an accident by doing that, we consider the other driver responsible.  If we feed and clothe ourselves through our successful business, we credit ourselves.  If we feed and clothe ourselves by burglarizing apartments, we blame our difficult childhood."

"For many of us, being held responsible is equal to getting caught.  A friend who returns each year to his native Italy told me, with a twinkly in his eye, of a dinner out with his family. When the bill came, my friend's father, who is fastidious, examined each scribbled item. After some study, he deciphered the last entry and recognized it to be a short expression that translates, roughly, "If it goes, it goes."  He called the waiter and asked, "What is this item?"  The waiter shrugged, "It didn't go."  Many of us feel that if a clerk gives us too much change, and we take it, our life has been affected only to the extent that we have come into an unexpected gain.  In fact, each of our acts affect us in far reaching ways."

"Every action, thought and feeling is motivated by an intention, and that intention is the cause that exists as one with an effect.  If we participate in the cause, it is not possible for us to not participate in the effect.  In this most profound way, we are held responsible for our every action, thought and feeling, which is to say, our every intention.  We, ourselves, shall parttake of the fruit of our every intention. It is therefore, wise for us to become aware of the many intentions that inform our experience, to sort out which intentions produce which effects, and to choose our intentions according to the effects that we desire to produce."

"This is the way that we learned about physical reality as children, and that we refine our knowledge of it as adults.  We learn the effect of crying when we are hungry, and we repeat the cause that brings us the effect that we desire. WE learn the effect of putting a finger in the light socket, and we do not repeat the cause that produces that effect."

"We also learn about intentions and their effects through our experience in physical reality, but learning that intentions produce specific effects, and what those effects are, proceed slowly when our learning must be done solely through the density of physical matter. Anger, for example, causes distance and hostile interactions.  If we must learn this solely through physical experience, we many have to experience ten, or fifty, or one hundred and fifty circumstances of distance from another and hostile interaction before we come to understand that it is the orientation of anger on our part, the intention of hostility and distance, and not this particular action or that, which produces the effect that we do not want.  This is predominantly the way that a five-sensory human learns."

"The relationship of cause and effect within the domain of physical objects and phenomena reflects a dynamic that is not limited to physical reality.  This the dynamic of karma. Everything in the physical world, including each of us, is a small part of dynamics that are more extensive than a five-sensory human can preceive. The love, fear, compassion, and anger that you experience for example, are only a small part of the love, fear, and compassion, and anger of a larger energy system that you do not see."

"Within physical reality, the dynamic of karma is reflected by the third lay of motion: "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction." In other words, the great law of karma that governs the balancing energy within our evolutionary system is reflected within the domain of physical objects and phenomena by the last of three principles, three laws of motion, that govern the balancing of energy within physical reality."

"The law of karma is an impersonal energy dynamic. When its effects are personalized, that is, experienced from the point of view of the personality, they are experienced as the reversal in the direction, a coming back to the intender, of the energy of his or her intention.  This is how the personality experiences the impersonal dynamic that is described by the third law as an "equal and opposite reaction."

"The person who intends hatred for others experiences the intention of hatred from others.  The person who intends love for others experiences the intention of love from others, and so forth."

"The Golden Rule is a behavioral guide that is based upon the dynamic of karma.  A personalized statement of karma would be, "You receive from the world what you give to the world."

"Karma is not a moral dynamic.  Morality is a human creation. the Universe does not judge. The law of karma governs the balancing energy within our system of morality and within those of our neighbors.  It serves humanity as an impersonal and Universal teacher of responsibility."

"Every cause that has not yet produced its effect is an event that has not yet come to completion.  it is an imbalance of energy that is in the process of becoming balanced.  That balancing of energy does not always occur within the span of a single lifetime. The karma of your soul is created and balanced by activities of its many personalities, including you.  Often a personality experiences effect that were created by other of its soul's personalities, and conversely, creates energy imbalances that are not able to right themselves within its own lifetime."

"Therefore, without knowledge of its soul, reincarnation, and karma, it is not always possible for a personality to understand the significance or the meaning of the events of its life, or to understand the effects of its responses to them."

"For example, a personality that takes advantage of others creates an imbalance of energy that must be righted by the experience of being taken advantage of by others.  If that cannot be accomplished in the lifetime of this personality, another of its soul's personalities will experience being taken advantage of by other people.  If that personality does not understand that the experience of being taken advantage of by others is the effect of a previous cause, and that this experience is bringing to completion an impersonal process, it will react from a personal view rather than from the point of view of its soul.  It may become angry for example, or vengeful or depressed. It may lash out, or grow cynical or withdraw into sorrow.  Each of these responses creates karma, another imbalance of energy which, in turn, must be balanced. In this way, one karmic debt has been paid, so to speak, but another, or others, has been created."

"If a child dies early in life, we do not know what agreement was made between that child's soul and the souls of its parents, or what healing was served by that experience.  Although we are sympathetic to the anguish of the parents, we cannot judge this event.  If we or the parents of this child, do not understand the impersonal nature of the dynamic that is in motion, we may react with anger towards the Universe, or towards each other, or with guilt if we feel that our actions were inadequate. All of these reactions create karma, and more lessons for the soul to learn – more karmic debts for the soul to pay – appear."

"In order to become whole, the soul must balance its energy. It must experience the effects that it has caused. The energy imbalances in the soul are the incomplete parts of the soul that form the personality.  Personalities in interaction are souls that are seeking to heal.  Whether an interaction between souls is healing or not depends upon whether the personality involved can see beyond itself and that of the other personality to the interaction of their souls.  This perception automatically draws forth compassion."

"Every experience, and every interaction, provides you with an opportunity to look from the point of view of your soul or from the point of your personality."  Gary Zukav, "The Seat of the Soul"

  • Impeccable.

There are laws of the Universe that no religion or man can upset, nor can you alter another's karma in any way.

It isn't that I subscribe to Eastern Philosophy, but the physics of life are no longer a mystery to me.  Each of us gets our very own wheel that is secure and totally our own, no one can penetrate the delicate balance of your life. Its environment is yours to control and you and you alone set in motion how your life will flow.

There are people who believe that they have the power to change your life, but they don't.  No one can make or break your world, unless you allow them. Then it is you setting in motion an acceptance of allowing them into your environment.

You are the gatekeeper of your Karma.  The Ultimate voice, the ironclad defense against all things, no one can step in front of you. Your life is set up perfectly perfect with your agreement.  It is simply impossible for it to happen otherwise.

No one can play and mess up your karma or even enhance it…it is all left up to you.

Imagine if this were true…if someones words or wishes could change your world, what mayhem would ensue and how your life would spin out of control in beat of a negative thought directed at you.

My first 46 years was me not knowing that I controlled my karma, that I was the one who believed that my karma was in the hands of others.

It was an incredible blow to see that I was the common denominator in all of my life, that nothing happened without me being there and consenting.  Nothing.  I was the one who had orchestrated my life.  I was the one with leaking boundaries or none.  I was the one who had acquiesced my life…there was no one who stood in front of me who had more power in my life than me.

I had lived my first 46 years in darkness willingly.  I had fed that darkness while shutting out the Light.

My brother's blog, Ripple in the Water, has a song attached, and a line in the song says, "Darkness has a hunger that is insatiable and Light is a call that is hard to hear."

That line is so rich with content and meaning and clearly defines the lives of so many.  The sheer hunger of the Darkness that is forever wanting to be fed…against the faint call to the light…that is hard to hear.

Even harder to hear is what the Light is telling you….against the gnashing of teeth.  You have to be able to stop feeding your negative energies and turn toward the call of Light.

Some feel that we can 'forgive' and be kind to the bad behaviors of others and it will change them, it can't.

All it does is keep us engaged in the dark energies and ignoring our inner Light.

I find it so comforting to know that there is nothing I can do to change the lives of others.  Nothing.  It is purely up to them.  My only power lies with me.

The False Gods will have you believe that we are in charge of others karma and lives, that we can make changes that will affect them long term, we can't.

No one can create a better life for you.  No one can live a better life for you, or mutter sayings and affirmations and send angels and good things into your world. It is impossible to get ahead of the laws of physics.

We each are one verse alone.

We sing our own songs. We play our own tunes.

No one can interject a verse without our permission.

All the people who claim to be healers for you are selling you a false cure.  They can't.  They are claiming to own the powers of the Universe/God…impossible.  No one has more energy or power than the other. We are all created equal into a system that is governed by a law of physics.

It isn't a human law or religious law or owned and operated by certain groups and beliefs, it can't be regulated or changed or manipulated and all who believe they have power over you are trying to control your karma and do…when you believe them, it leaves you weak and a victim and them more powerful.

The term, "Thou shall have no other gods before me…" is, in my opinion, telling us that the laws of the Universe is the one true way.

Your intentions and feelings are sending out messages to the Universe always…without fail.  Each of us gets equal and just attention from the Universe, have no fear…or have fear depending upon what you are sending out.

    "Ask and ye shall recieve…"

One other thing, is if you are screaming at others, angry at others, resentful and rageful, directing your language toward someone, the Universe only picks up that energy and delivers it right back to you.

Karma works whether you believe it or not…it doesnt' wait for your approval, it just is.  What goes out comes back perfectly and exactly…impeccable.

  • Our Door in the Future…

I believe the future is only the past again, entered through another gate. ~ Arthur Wing Pinero

I read this quote a few times and now I believe I understand it, that our karma or our lessons continue until we change how we greet them, they enter back into our lives perhaps in another body or similar relationship.

Is it possible that how we act today will bring to us this in another gate?

That if we act in love and awareness, we will greet love and awareness in our future?

    What we sow we reap.

When we allow others to mistreat us, we will get more folks who want to mistreat.

It seems the wonderful Universe gives back to us that which we sow without fail.

The old saying, “God helps those who help themselves…” He waits for us to help ourselves.

Many will beseech God to help them, to fix them, to do this and that for them, while they are the ones who hold the power.

I was waiting for people to learn how to treat me better when it was I who had to learn this lesson. And in another gate flowed volumes of folks to teach me how to treat me better.

They were not different folks, but the same ones coming in as they usually did and it was up to me to stand up and put a stop to the way they were treating me.

I had to stop using myself to please them.

I had to start using myself to please me.

Most of who entered into my gate of now were surprised at this new response, this new me, this new voice and most turned around and left no longer interested in playing this new game with me.

The new game of fair trade, this equal partnership or freedom to be a sovereign nation co-existing with them, where the boundaries don’t overlap, where we are not holding each other up, but rather supporting each other to be one strong individual unit, was not a game for co-dependents.

What we do, what we say, how we treat ourselves today will come a knocking on our door in the future.

  • Show and Tell

The greatest way to live with honor in this world is to be what we pretend to be. ~Socrates

I looked up the meaning of the word Integrity and one of its meanings is to be in a state of completeness, undivided.

My girlfriend said the definition that they are teaching children in elementary school, is that what you say, what you think and what you do all match.

I had to let go of many relationships of people who were unable to walk the talk they talked.

I am much more in awe of folks who have integrity and make no excuses even if what they are doing is unkind. At least they are not putting on a friendly face while acting poorly.

If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, it’s a duck.

We get lulled by words and swayed in fancy sentences when actions are way off base.

My husband knows a man called Snake, and he asked him how he got that handle? The man said he earned it. I like that. My husband went on to tell me this man spent time in jail for having a relationship with a young girl…

If only we called folks by their behaviors it would make life a much easier way to navigate.

“People show us who they are, Believe them,” is Maya Angelou’s quote.

The key words are Show and Believe… it is as if the world is one big place of Show and Tell, but instead of bring something to show, we bring ourselves.

We are all showing people who we are and they are showing us.

It is not a game of pretending to be something different.

Watch actions, how they display themselves and how they take care of their lives, they are on this stage called life being who they are, it is our job to believe what it is we see.

How often do you give them the benefit of doubt? Whose doubt? Who doesn’t want to believe and why? What will happen if you believe? What will you lose?

It is incredible to me now to not believe them. It is like they are screaming their truths and we are blocking our ears and shutting our eyes.

“People Show you who they are, BELIEVE them.”

We don’t want to believe who they are, for it will wreck our dream.

The pain we are afraid of is the sorrow of our broken dreams.
It isn’t so much that we lose them; we lose our dreams and our future.

Yet what is the karma we are actually tending to?

A lifetime of dancing with people who are disappointing, for they can’t measure up to what we hold in our minds, for we refuse to believe who they really are.

It gets you so confused, that you then lose who you are.

You are a believer of what is not.

While extremely painful, it was very liberating to finally be able to believe in what people showed me. I love what is. I stay in step and in tune with the show and tell!

  • You are What you Love.

“Don’t just make up your mind, make up your heart” Argisle

I am reading a book, “You are What you Love” by Vaishali, and it is interesting to read that we have two choices, listening to our minds or listening to our Hearts.

And what you are listening to you love.

Page 42, Chapter Ultimate Truth & Ultimate Lies.

“The ego will always direct us towards the limited outcome just like we trained it to do. These ego-based stories, conclusions, thoughts and beliefs are now charged with the energy of our attention, which makes them the wound in the wave. The use of awareness that makes this impression or mark on the psyche is an incomplete action. In Hinduism and Buddhism, incomplete action, or incomplete cause and effect, is called karma.

We can visualize the impressions as a kind of karmic map of mind. If we want to know our biggest nastiest karma, just look at what our biggest nastiest belief is about ourselves, about life, about relationships, about others and we’ve hit pay dirt. The ego is a lot like CNN but without commercials. If you watch your mind, your wave, it will parade in front of you all the news you have trained it to program and air over and over and over again, ad nausea.

There is a relationship between unconscious and accumulating karma, and being conscious and burning off karma. It all depends upon what you are doing with your awareness. Let us approach understanding what happens when we are unconscious as the accumulation of incomplete cause and effects. When we are unconscious, we are not in the present moment, we are not accepting what is from an open Heart. When we are unconscious, we are listening to the ego’s limited, tiny version of reality from the head place. This is not what we came her to do with our will, love, service, and life purpose. It is therefore and incomplete action.

When we are conscious we are in the present moment with what is from an open Heart. When we are conscious it is the Flame of Pure Awareness, the Heartfelt wisdom from the feeling place within, that observes with gratitude the perfection of every given moment. Since this level of conscious practice is the highest function behind the design and creation of the physical world, it is what we came here to do. It is therefore a complete action. Witnessing what is from the Heart is the conscious action that burns off negative and incomplete karma, which accumulates when we listen to the ego from the head.

Incomplete action or duality happening within the wave would look like this: I give my attention to thoughts and beliefs about who and what I am; I give my attention to thoughts and beliefs about who others are, what life and relationships are; I understand myself, life, world and value system through the deeply trained habit of seeing everything from the subject/object perspective. This would appear internally as an inner dialogue that sounds like, “I am a successful attorney, superior to the dregs I squash in court. My power is that I command respect and am a force to be reckoned with in the courtroom, even though I respect no one other than myself. I drive a sixty foot long Mercedes and I live in a multi-million dollar mansion, in case you are interested in seeing my value and worth measured against yours. This behavior and these possessions make the appropriate statements about my obvious superiority and importance.” The dialog could run in the reverse direction, “I am a lowly piece of shit that no one could possibly love or respect.”

With incomplete action, a person’s awareness goes out into the exterior world and touches an object: another person, house, care, whatever. Incomplete action occurs when the awareness coming back to the person tells them that whatever they perceive is exactly what they think and believe it is. No one came her to listen to the ego’s version of reality; that is an incomplete action. In doing so, we re-create a story of duality; another person with so much power and worth, who in turn affects my sense of power and worth. It is all cause and effect: thoughts and beliefs, which re-creates more limitations. It just keeps spiraling downwards until it is out of control.

Action is incomplete because it is not witnessed by the aspect of mind we recognize as the Flame of Pure Awareness. The action was witnessed instead by the ego, by the disease of duality. So when action is witnessed, by the disease we are here to get over, it fragments the mind. It creates more duality, which in turn drives every known and unknown disease and limitation even deeper into the wave. We’ve created our own personal hell.

The action needs to be witnessed by the aspect of mind that has the inherent power to return our mind to a state of wholeness, beyond the illusory grasp of duality, which fragments mind into tiny pieces. This action can only occur when we give our awareness to eternal consciousness for solving our eternal problems, without a thought or belief, because that is an action we came to the rock to complete. That is the sole action that makes the Flame of Pure Awareness the senior witnessing force in our lives.

The action is made complete only when awareness going out into the exterior world touches something, and the awareness coming back to the person is then run through the Flame of Pure Awareness in the Heart, not through the ego-head filter. The Flame of Pure Awareness keeps the person in witnessing mode. Without it, we would fall immediately back into the limitation of what we think and believe life and self are. The Flame of Pure Awareness is beyond duality intelligence, beyond subject/object orientation. It is in unifying, indivisible quality of authentic intelligence, which reveals, recognizes, and realizes the interior through the process of witnessing it in the exterior.

The Flame of Pure Awareness is the intelligence that sees and gets real about how the mind is organized by witnessing itself reflected back in the medium of the physical world. “This is what Jesus means when he refers to “those who have eyes to see;” those who see not illusion, but rather the movement of realized love, movement of the One everywhere.

When awareness realizes itself, it is purified, and that is the action we came here to complete. When mind becomes self-realizing the action is complete. The purpose of all created life, the purpose of a physical world is for self-realization. It is to fully realize we are what we love, and we love whatever we are giving our attention to. Once we realize what we are doing with our love, manifesting either Heaven or hell on a moment to moment basis, then the action is complete. The purpose of being here is realized.

When the mind realizes it is looking at itself, the seeds of karma become purified, or roasted by the Flame of Pure Awareness. Then, no karma sprouts up and grows from this action. The action is complete because we go from what it came here to realize. Karma is repeating whatever you need to, until you get it. In future chapters we will refer to karma of an incomplete action as re-creation. Anything born from a limited intelligence, such as the ego, will only have the capacity to re-create what is already here, which is itself limiting. Only healthy God consciousness is unlimited and can therefore create something new, manifest something from nothing. We all came here to create a new response to ultimate lies, to end the limitations we are all here to get over. Eternal consciousness has the power to create a new response to any old or new problem. The ego on the other hand, can only re-create over and over again. It cannot create something new. It is a limited form of consciousness. What do you want from it? If the ego is providing answers to all of your eternal problems, there is only one possible outcome for you. Look up the word futile in the dictionary, if you have not already guessed what that outcome will be.

Understand what this whole shootin’ match was created for the convenience of your enlightenment. As God consciousness, as eternal consciousness, if there were a better faster way to reach enlightenment, you’d be doing it. You’d already be there. If you do not understand that everything you are experiencing here is the exact, perfect reflection of the relationship you have with your own mind, then you will be destined to re-creating what you think and what you believe it is. That would be re-creating the limitation you are here to get over. This will continue until you realize that what you are looking at is your own mind, and then choose to move on from that place of truth.”
